Accountancy was not Mark’s first career, having left school after sitting “O” levels he spent the first six years of his working life as a soldier.
Once decided on a “civvy street” career in accountancy, Mark spent the earlier years of his training with a small practice in Cornwall whose clients included farmers, fishermen, shopkeepers and a variety of other small businesses and self-employed individuals. Moving on into commerce Mark found himself working in Central London for a large business travel company, followed by six years in Cardiff working as company accountant for a manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment, before returning to his native West Midlands in 1997.
Qualifying with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in 1998 he went on to become the UK Financial Controller for a German multinational machine tool manufacturer. During this time Mark also studied part time at the University of Manchester’s business school, graduating in 2005 with a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Moving on, Mark became Finance Director for a precision metal fabrication company which trebled in size during his tenure. Following acquisition by a larger group Mark decided to move on, taking on a lifestyle change as a freelance accountant.
Whilst having enjoyed four years of freelancing for a variety of organisations experiencing transformational moments in their own histories, Mark came across an advertisement which led to meeting Stewart Jukes. End of freelancing career, and Mark joined Jukes Group in November 2021. Deriving enormous job satisfaction from the diverse personalities in the Jukes Group team Mark genuinely enjoys collaborating with the team to bring together plans and ideas. Mark makes no secret that “Working with Stewart and the rest of the team is the best, and most enjoyable, experience of my career in business.”
